Link popularity and how to get more of it...

I like getting visitors to this blog. If you run a website, you probably love getting visitors even more than I do, especially if you rely on the site to make a living. The best way to get a ton of targeted traffic is by ranking high with the search engines for terms that are related to the content of your site. If you sell widgets and can end up number one for “widgets” at Google, you are going to get more potential customers than you can imagine.

The trick is figuring out how to get ranked high in the search engines. It used to be that the search engines algorithms cared a great deal about your on page content and gave some weight to inbound links. As time has passed, link popularity has grown in relative importance. You have to have lots of people linking to you in order to rank high.

Powerful links from authority sites are great, but many experts argue that sheer quantity of links is the best way to boost search engine results. One of the best ways to develop a ton of links to your site is by getting people like me to blog about you. You could drop me a line and ask for me to do that, but by the time you contacted 1000 bloggers, you’d be begging for mercy. Blogitive offers a neat alternative. They will find the bloggers for you and distribute the information necessary for them to write about you and your site--and to link to it. It’s a great solution for more traffic from the search engines.
